So I got the cooler on the back porch filled with good micobrews. We are going to go to the staff's favorite watering hole, Brew It Up for dinner and a few drinks and then back to the homestead for some tall tales.

Clarification - The "rat house" referred to below is the affectionate name for our fraternity house. And we are referring to "Hell Week" which lasted a week.

Mr. Bleak: "Oh you had it easy when you pledged, you at least got three hours of sleep each night, we had to get up an hour before we went to bed"
Mr Stench: "Luxary, you guys could not walk on the grass at the rat house? we had to walk four inches above the ground at all times when at the house"

And they will get bigger and better from there.

Glad Bag Attack

My fraternity brother Evan Weaks, who is my little brother in the fraternity (actually he is a lot bigger than me) is coming down from O-re-gon today. He is going to spend the night and then continue on to Southern California to meet up with his wife and kids. When we were in Chico one summer we formed a band with another fraternity brother Mike, called the Glad Bags. Another Fraternity brother Russ was a DJ for the college radio station and so he invited us on to do an interview. Evan was working so he could not make it so Mike and I went. The interview went something like this:

Russ: "Go ahead and introduce yourself and what you play"
Mike: "My name is Mike and I play guitar"
Me: "My name is Scott Stench and I sing or yell. And Evan who is not here, his name is Evan the Bleak and he also sings or yells and does percussion"
Russ: "Percussion?"
Me: "Yea he just kind of bangs on things to keep a rhythm"
Russ: "So what is your prime motivation for forming this band and making your music"
Me: "Alcohol"
Mike: "Yea alcohol"
Me: "Yea we come back to the fraternity house after the bars close, Mike starts playing the guitar and Mr. Bleak and I start yelling out lyrics"
Mike: "We record it and eventually from all of that comes a song"
Russ: "Well that is interesting. So here is the Glad Bags new hit song, 'Glad Bag Attack'"

Funny even though the interview was in the middle of the afternoon a lot of people we knew heard the interview and thought it was pretty good. They thought our song was pretty amateurish, it was being recorded on a cheap little tape recorder, but they thought the interview was rather clever.

The staff here at Expounding on Nothing has taken a semi-break. It is a semi because we have been trying to blog but the few times we have tried in the past few days have been unsuccessfull. A couple of times Blogger said that we do not exist. While maybe in the abstract that could be true, it still hampered our pursuit of doing anything. Until Blogger and the staff here can come to terms with our non-existence the space might be kind of quiet.
